My father is into genealogy and traced a branch of the family back to the Mayflower (for realz).

We have a Puritan ancestor named Wrestling Brewster.

(As in the literal translation of Yisrael!)

Weird but cool

Elon Musk's kid. I have no idea what his mother does or doesn't identify with, but I certainly hope he ends up with a normal nickname, for his sake.

I know of somebody called Candida. And all I can think of when I see her name is Candida Albicans, the name of the fungus which causes thrush. 🙈

There was a set of boy/girl (not Jewish) twins who lived a street away from my childhood home. The boy was named Heaven and the girl was named Hell. They had ‘normal sounding’ middle names. When asked why they were named what they were, they said that their mother who was niftar when they were very young was “a bit interesting” with names. They now are called by their middle names.

A relative worked in ny in the dept of education. On the computer. And saw many interesting names. The worst one was phuck.

Another name was pronounced shi-thead.

I apologize for the language.

Yup! He was born in 1614, so that’s a lot of time for a descendant to join Klal Yisrael 😉

Names fascinate me but what’s wrong with naming your baby Rachel or whatever? Charlotte if you’re feeling fancy. People are so nuts. Why the need to make stuff up?? Have some rachmanus on your children!

I'm really intrigued by the woman who named her baby Gesher.

This is horrible! If people want to give names like these why don’t they get themselves a pair of hamsters???
