So why did she need to go to the hospital?

A newborn with fever requires an immediate workup, and depending on what’s going on they may admit for observation (even if no treatment is needed).

During routine testing in school my son tested positive. He had stomach cramps for a few hours two days prior but was totally symptom free otherwise. Not sure if the cramps were even due to covid. He has a sensitive stomach.

We're in quarantine because my kids all tested positive last week. The younger kids had fever and congestion. The fever only lasted one day. My vaccinated teens were asymptomatic.

One came home from school and took a nap--but I didn't know to test the kid
One kid had diarrhea and took an early nap one day and threw up when he woke up--didn't know to test the kid
One kid had a runny nose--but tends to have a chronic runny nose this time of year
One kid was asymptomatic but the day he tested positive came home and slept for a few hours--that was it
One kid had a cough, fever, and runny nose, but with tylenol/motrin was back to herself.
Once it was in the household I got the first 2 tested and they tested positive on their pcr.

The teen had a mild cold.
The 12 year old had high fever congestion and bad headache.
The 11 year old had a sore throat and low fever for one night, and congestion for a few days.
The 6 year old had high fever, vomited, and had a burning sensation in his nose. Toward the end of 10 days he started to complain of chest pain, for which the doc recommended advil to reduce inflammation. He had it the worst of all of us, and ended up staying home for longer than ten days. B"H he bounced back afterwards.

I have learned that kids with Covid often look like they have a regular cold or stomach bug. Our communities would not have this current outbreak if everyone had Covid home test kits and used them at the first sign of a cold or stomach bug.
