I'm not in Brooklyn so I don't know specifics, but I'm sure there are many programs that can help you retrain to get back into the workforce. You just need to learn the newer computer programs and you're good to go.
Personally, I think working is better than volunteering because it forces you to have structure to your day.
Volunteering is good if you have a specific passion. If you like to cook, or give rides to people, or anything that you feel is meaningful and talks to you. If it doesn't, you're just not going to get into it and it won't work.

If you live in Monsey that would be best, but remote could also work |

OP, if you don't need the salary and want to keep busy, you can study for a degree. That will keep you motivated and lead to a purposeful position.

I once tried to volunteer for moms with multiples and you had to commit to 3-4 hours once a week.
So for example you had to commit every monday for specific hours

It seems a little selfish not to be looking to volunteer in your position. Find something that requires a commitment so you won’t just not show up.

Babysitting in your home or other people's homes. You can state your hours available.

I really want to do something that makes me feel useful and has structure. Teaching is not my thing Im not really a peoples person, Im more reserved. |
Work in a group home or day hab or job coach for people with disabilities. It has structure and you will feel useful as well. Check out places like Hasc, Hamaspik, JUF, Ohel, Womens League, etc. and see what they have available. Good luck!
