Ok, the time has come. I am starting my new diet tomorrow.
I may be marrying off my daughter by January, so there is no time to lose. No, she is not engaged, and not even currently dating anyone. Nor is there anyone on the horizon! But, you never know. I hear from my friends that it can happen in the blink of an eye. And then what? I will start dieting then? I have two or three months to get ready. I have about 50 lbs to lose to get to a normal weight, so I better get started today!

Date for 2 weeks and then a 6 week engagement?

Who knows? I dated for about 2 weeks and had an 8 week engagement.
The point is that it can bezH happen sooner than later and I would rather not show up to my daughter's wedding in an oversized gown. Unlike lots of other things in this world, losing weight takes TIME. You can't really rush it. Thinking this way gets me motivated to get on the wagon NOW.

I'm ready to join! Is it still ok if you have 1 cup of coffee?
Also I'm curious if it didn't work for anyone since some of the reviews online are negative saying it is not based on science ...

Yes, you absolutely can do it even if you have a cup of coffee.
I can't tell you how it works for anyone else, I can only tell you that it has been a great experience for me.

I don't eat fruits. Is it still possible to do such a diet or will I be starving all the time?
I find that most diet tell you to eat fruit for each snack. What can I replace fruit with?

You don't have to eat any specific foods, you can choose from a big list.

I read that too. As far as I'm concerned, I don't care if the science is not real. If it works, it works. People feel good on it, they lose weight and they feel like their metabolism is much improved even when they are off plan.

Oh my I can't even imagine how I would have acted that situation. I don't think I'd be proud of myself but I probably would have been crying hysterically and I might have even thrown something. Like I said I went have been proud but I cannot imagine how upset I would have been. And my husband for leaving me in the first place and my in-laws for not making sure that I had food. Especially if my foot was broken and I came anyway. I really hope they learn from the mistake and give you a huge apology and I mean really huge.

From what I can see, there is a chart of portion sizes for each category. But depending how much you want to lose, you get more. For every additional 20 lbs you add a half portion size.

So for example. If you want to lose 20 lbs or fewer, you go by the basic portion size. A portion of chili is 2 cups.

If you want to lose 30-40, you should have 3 cups. If you want to lose 50 or 60, you get 4 cups of chili.
As you lose the weight you reduce your portion size.

I'm not following... the more you want to lose, the more food you get to eat?

Yes because the assumption is that you are more overweight. So a 200 lb woman who wants to get to 130, will eat more than a 150 lb woman who wants to get to 130.
Makes sense. (Weight watchers works the same way.)

OK, so this is how it all went down today.

DAY 1:
Starting weight: 198.4

As I said, I didn't get a chance to read the book before today, as I was only able to pick it up from the library today. But I didn't want to push off starting this diet. So I did the best I could with the food I had at home.

I didn't realize until midday that there were specific portion sizes, so I just ate until I was full. I was a bit hungry but I think that's because I allowed too much time between meals. You are supposed to eat every 3-4 hours.

It's hard to say how I am feeling so far on the plan, because I have been traveling so I'm exhausted due to that. That being said, here is what I ate today:

Breakfast:
Old fashioned Oats with a drop of almond milk
Frozen strawberries (I cup)

Snack: orange

Lunch: salad of a can of tuna in water,
Iceberg lettuce*, tomatoes and cucumbers.
Rice cake thins.
One apple.

Snack: apple

Dinner: grilled chicken breasts with quinoa. Tomatoes and cucumbers.

*I realized afterwards that all lettuce is allowed EXCEPT for iceberg.

I did not reach my water goal which is 99 oz.
I drank about 60 oz, which is more than usual, but I hope to increase my water intake.

Now I'm going to read the book so I am better prepared for tomorrow.

Were you ready to eat breakfast the 1/2 of waking up?
Found it too early for a heavy meal. I start the day with a snack and then eat breakfast and no snack before lunch.

As a side note you're only allowed to have rice milk
