Hi I’m power washing and staining my deck. The guy recommended grey?!? Is that a deck color nowadays?? I wanted a regular brown wood color. Anyone stain recently ? What color did u do??

What color is your house? Can he give you a paper with color options and you hold it up next to the house, and see what color looks nice?
I’ve seen brown porches and grey porches they both look nice. But I think brown wood looks nice with cream or beige house?
A whiter or light grey house would look nice with a grey tone porch.

Thanks! So if my house is grey siding I should paint porch grey? I just don’t think it looks natural. I like brown to look like wood but not too light or too dark. Do u know a good shade?

Why painting? He said staining will treat the wood and get out splinters

Who are you using for the job? Just curious.

I stained my deck at the beginning of the summer. I actually did a sort of neutral beige/grey/taupe kind of color. Hard to explain. It matches my awning and the cushions of my deck furniture and came out really nice.

I think if your house is grey you can go either with a match or with a contrast. I actually like the contrast idea better. A rich warm red-brown can look really nice against a grey backdrop.

I stained my porch “light lead”. It’s a soft grey and looks nice.
I see greys all over. I think most people match the deck to the building. Beige siding/stone to beige porch etc.

I've definitely seen contrast. I'm looking out my window at my neighbor's backyard, and I can see her red-brown deck against her grey house. Very nice big classy house, BTW.

BTW he has one group of paints that are supposedly more heat-resistant so I chose from those. I figured why not.

Just go with a color you like. It will be nice. I was very pleased, and I just chose on my own (with the assistance of my girls, actually.) It really came out nice.
