Lately Iv’e been spending so much on my basic weekly groceries. When we have guest for Shabbos I can spend double. I am wondering how much people with families of 5-8 people spend weekly on groceries. What’s a normal amount to spend weekly in the New York area??

My weekly grocery bill is over $100 more a week than it was before the summer. Prices keep going up, for everyone

Good gracious
I may not have been able to afford Brooklyn even if I had stayed.

Baltimore. Family of 5 with kids between 5-10. I spend appx 350/week if not a bit more. Don't feel we eat extravagantly nor do we eat just pasta and beans.

It has nothing to do with Brooklyn, prices have gone up all over due to the supply chain crisis.

I haven’t noticed that here...
We eat seasonally in Ukraine, so if for instance I wanted strawberries now, then yeah, they’d be overly expensive.
But I haven’t seen the prices of food staples rise.

In Lakewood, a 5lb bag of potatoes cost $2.49 a year ago, now it's average $3.89.
And some of the sales are just not there.
I used to be able to get eggs 5 dozen for $5, now the best I can do is $1.49 a dozen.
I suppose I can run to 2 dozen stores to track down the specials, but in general basic produce, cereal, bread, chicken per pound
