Because theoretically I can move into a basement apartment for $1200 a month. There are no lower options with tuition.

The poster was commenting how expensive a frum lifestyle is.

Tuition is one of the major expenses associated with a frum lifestyle in America. A mortgage is a universal expense to anyone wishing to own a house regardless of other aspects of their lifestyle.

The same here. People say cut down on things. I live so meagerly to begin with. There is nothing left to cut down , unless we stop paying the utility bills, go hungry, or walk two hours to work every day.
