I didn't find it believable in the slightest.
1. Teenage girls have never seen a pregnant woman before? Mothers? Neighbors? Teachers?
2. People go thru security before boarding a plane, including pregnant women.
3. Teenagers would've had to tell the flight attendants who have experience and common sense.
Truthfully the "as told to" stories in frum mags usually read as made up to me.

Your first point is one of the reasons I found it inappropriate. Sounds like they were just looking out for some fun by mocking a pregnant woman.

A woman in her ninth month was sitting on a flight ready for takeoff. After a 45 minute delay she was taken off the plane by security. It's ridiculous though that a fake pregnant stomach would make it thru security. And that the flight attendants would call for a security team, when they had seen the pregnant woman with their own eyes but just ignore their own common sense and panic based on silly teen complaints.
I didn't think it was inappropriate, though. Just ridiculous.
