I now lots of lyrics but not all and I just can’t remember who sings this.
It’s old

Chorus:we believe, we are the chosen we have been since time began
Nobody else can do or be the things we can
And forever we will be

So stand aside, we are a nation with a soul that glows with pride…
And no matter what they say, no, they can’t take that away
We are the children of Hashem and we believe.

I think It starts:
Though they have tried so hard to separate us…

Great song!!! I seem to recall it was Michoel Streicher. Can anybody confirm this?

Thanks for responding!
I’m 99.9 % sure it is NOT striechers song.

Anyone else?

K, now I'm going crazy. I know the song so well but can't place the singer. It sounds a bit like Dov Levine but I really don't think it's him either.

I'm curious where you're from. I know that song from NCSY in the 90's, Atlantic Seaboard (Maryland, Virginia, Philly area.) I've never heard it anywhere else. And I have a vague remembrance that someone(s) there wrote it.

"Though they have tried so hard to separate us,
Thinking they could devastate us,
Testing all our strength with so much pain,
And though it must be strange for them to see.
How we've endures this history,
And though we're marred and scarred we somehow still remain.

Don't they know we hear a different music,
That we answer to a different call.
Can't they see, this is our destiny,
That it was meant to be, but most of all..."

Yes!!! Me too! I'm going to ask an old NCSY friend from those days.

If you're from NCSY or Baltimore, my first instinct is a combination of Rabbi Dinovitzer and Chuckie Epstein. I don't know, though.

Yup- it’s Dov Levine.

Last night I told my husband it’s from an old singer with the name Levine but we couldn’t recall his name.

Thank you

So where can we find this song to listen to? I really want to hear it now but all online searches have come up empty?

I’ve searched for hours and came up empty handed.

I happen to know the song well, just couldn’t remember all the lyrics

Midwest NCSY here and we rocked out to this song also in the 90s.
