Asking half for fun and half for ideas! I like cleverly written like Yossi and label but if my dd chooses a book and it has "too many words" I tell her to choose a different one.

I assume you're asking about frum picture books. Is it Shabbos Yet?

I love The Very Good Fisherman. It’s got such a lovely message of shalom bayis for adults, and kids just think it’s a cute story.

How old is DD?

For a toddler, I might suggest "Who Am I", while for a 3 or 4 year old, Mimi and Simi, or the like. And definitely another vote for Is It Shabbos Yet.

I struggle with the sarcasm in those books.

I don’t like to many. I find most if them to be pretty pathetic to be honest. Some great ones:
“Bat em in Benji”
“The aleph bais trip on the aleph bais ship”
“Not my kind, I don’t mind”

I'm not sure what might have too much words. I love some of the suggestions (Like As Big as an Egg) above as well as
Around the Shabbos Table by Seryl Berman
Freidele Galya Soban Biniashvili's picture books
Red Blue and Yellow Yarn by Miriam Kosman

I'm sure more will come to me soon.

I've gotten Red, Blue, and Yellow Yarn from PJ Library!
I dislike when books rhyme, although a few (very few!) are well done, like Yossi and Laibel and Rikki Benenfeld's books.
