Soak in a small bowl full of water to which you have added a few drops of dishwashing liquid and a few drops of ammonia. Scrub gently with a soft, old toothbrush. Rinse in clean water. Dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. For extra sparkle dip in alcohol and let air-dry.

FTR. White gold is no different from yellow gold in this regard.

Don’t use toothpaste. It’s too abrasive. Diamonds can’t be scratched by anything other than diamond but they can be eroded—I.e. worn away—by anything abrasive.

Don't use boiling water. It loosens the diamond in the setting.

Rubbing alcohol and an old soft toothbrush
Pour some alcohol in a cup, let the ring soak a little bit and scrub gently with the toothbrush to loosen any dirt. Then wash with soap and water and dry with a cloth.

No, but it works the same way as ammonia and dish soap. Instead of ammonia, it uses sodium hydroxide (very very dilute) which is also a base, plus surfactants. Pour just a few drops into a cup of water. After all, when using it to clean a filthy floor, you pour maybe a quarter to half a cup into a bucket of water, and your ring is presumably nowhere nearly as dirty as a floor.

Don't use this on silver, copper or costume jewelry or on soft stones like turquoise, opals or pearls--only on gold or platinum and precious stones like diamond.

How dirty is it? YOu might benefit from a cleaning at a jewelry store. I take mine before Pesach and he checks the setting too.
