Hi, anyone know of an elem/middle school that doesn’t use a frontal teaching model, and has smaller groups? Not for special Ed, but more progressive I suppose as far as grouping/educational model.

This is special education. That’s not what I am looking for. Great schools though!

Rambam in the Five Towns. My husband graduated from there a while ago but the teachers absolutely saved him academically and he has nothing but good things to say about how they accommodated his ADD.

Edit: Apparently did not read the full post like I thought I did. Here's an option for high school then, can't help with elementary/middle.

Luria Academy is a Jewish nondenominational Montessori school. It's to the left of MO but supposedly has a fantastic program. I toured the school and it looked very nice as well.

Moriah has a student-teacher ratio of about 7 to 1.

Also look at Yavneh. At least 1 branch of Sinai is located there, so even if your child doesn't need the level of intervention that Sinai provides, the expertise and insight is there.

These responses have been SO helpful….if any of you have your kids in Netivot, Luria or another Montessori-type school I’m interested in hearing more.

I would be wary of any school that doesn’t have a resource room. Make sure that whatever school you choose really has the staff and the set up to work with kids who need extra help.

RYNJ has a great resource room, but their classes are on the larger side. Yavneh has (had?) integration classes in the younger grades with trained staff, but I don’t know how far up it goes.
