anyone experienced this with their children?

my 4 yr old speaks perfectly clear except for the sh, j,ch, sounds.

e.g ju ice, sh oes, pic ture, ch oose. instead he says replaces it with a ch sound like in chaim.

the sounds seem to come out through his nose.

we blocked his nose once and no sound cam through at all. he couldn't get a sound out when trying to say any of these words.

he doesn't have any issues with his nose though.

Maybe take him to an ENT.

Hi! Those sounds are fully developed at age 5. However it is concerning the sound coming out of the nose. There are 3 nasal sounds
/m/ /n/ and /ing/
Maybe mention it to your pediatrician and see what he says about going to an ENT.

Someone I know had a child doing this. They were projecting the air out of their nose instead of their mouth. They went for specialized speech therapy to retrain his breathing. I don't know what it is called.

SLP here. So, I am not sure about your child since I would have to see him to know what exactly is going on, but concerning that sound is coming out his nose. Please look into velopharyngeal insufficiency. I had a few kids with similar issues. Their dr.s just said they need regular speech but I couldn't fix it. In the end they needed surgery. Not exactly sure, but I think the surgery kind of makes their velum longer so it closes off the Nasal cavity when speaking.
Hatzlacha and feel free to PM me if you want more info.
