During the day she acts totally fine.
The past two nights after she falls asleep she wakes up coughing and throws up. She is throwing up from the coughing.
Does she have a gag reflux? Is this something I should go to the doctor for or wait it out until the cough goes away? (During the day she’s barely coughing)

Probably post nasal drip. When we had that Dr told us to give allergy meds at night (bendryl or Zyrtec) to dry her up

Can you try elevating the head of the bed slightly?

(Not commenting about the doctor coz I don't know!)

Take a video to show the Dr. Also take her to the Dr.

One of my kids had that years ago and it was croupe. He needed a nebulizer and steroids.

It can also be post nasal drip as another mentioned and 3 nights Benadryl or Claritin can help dry up the mucus.

Me me me I have that.

Have her elevate her head 15 degrees to sleep, and of course drink plenty of water (warm water is best) and hydrating drinks if necessary.

If it’s a dry cough could be asthma, really depends on her history , could be reflux too... or if she has a cold post nasal drip. If dry and continues at night really could be asthma and might need steroid. Foresure go to doc

I wouldn't go to the doctor after 2 nights.
It could be many things, allergies and asthma one but just congestion from a cold and post nasal drip.
If she is just coughing until she vomits I would wait. If it looks like she is struggling to breathe then I would go right away.
And make sure she drinks a lot. It helps with post nasal drip too.

My son has exactly the same now. Coughing a lot at night and coughing up tons of mucous that it looked like vomiting. I took him to dr yesterday and dr said he has a bad sinus infection and gave him antibiotics

Rule of Thumb: When in doubt, go to the dr. Even if it's nothing at least you went. At least that's how I think...

Thanks everyone - gave her allergy medicine.
Will see how the night goes. If it happens again I’ll take her to the dr.
