Maohr
Elior
Ohrel
Nissim (old man's name in my community)

Maoz or Tzur

I think נריה is a boys name, bit not sure how it is pronounced, and it would be unusual

There's also Nir, but I dont like it.

As far as I know, Nir means a plowed field (ready to be planted).

Correct.

Once met Israeli walking dog.
He introduced himself as Nir.
Asked the dog’s name.
It was Gershon.

So you are Nir and dog is Gershon?
Uuuum, that is still a head scratcher to me...

To each his own, lol.

But your translation is right.

Yonasan
Yochanan
Shimon
Eliezer

And a bit out of the box-Alexander (can be called Sendy etc)

My son’s bris was on Chanukah, his name is Hillel Yehuda.

Hillel has the Chanukah connection because we light like Bais Hillel (increasing in light).

Yehuda because Yehuda HaMaccabee (and also the basic meaning of thanking HaShem)

Together: in HaNeiros Hallalu, we say “l’hodos u’lehallel” which has the roots of both those names.
My son now has a menorah with the words “l’hodos u’lehallel” and feels like it’s very much “his”.
