I emailed a teacher something that needs an answer. I have not received a reply how long is too long to not reply. It’s a school email address

Two working days I think would be standard time to reply, if not with a full answer at least with “thank you for your email, I will … and get back to you next week” But Maybe the teacher is off sick/with a sick kid and hasn’t been in school to see the email.

She’s single and was in school per my child.

How urgent is it?

If urgent, you can follow up after 24 hours.

Say something like I know how busy this time or year can be, and given its urgency, wanted to make sure it wasn't buried under a pile of other emails, or lost in a spam filter.

Otherwise, give it at least 2 days.

Single or married should be treated the same. Single adults have a life also.
48 hours is standard.

If it’s urgent I would leave a message with the school office that you need to speak to her.

I agree with 48 hours but if its really time sensitive I would call the teacher directly.

I've worked in several schools and the official policy was always 48 hours. Could be it's something she needs to get clarification on and is waiting to hear back from higher ups before she responds to you.
And agree that her being single is not relevant.

48 school hours- coming from a school admin- but sending a follow up before then is totally ok, too.

Is school email your only choice to communicate with her? I’m asking because I’m a teacher, and I don’t always check my school email. I give parents my cell number. If someone emails me through school, especially on a weekend or vacation, I might not see it right away.

I know But I quoted a post but that asked if she was sick or home with a sick child so that was my answer that she was in school and single
