In came the teacher with a big fat stick. I wonder what I got on arithmetic. 1+1 is 2. 2+2 is 4. Now it’s time for spelling. Spell cat. C-a-t. Spell dog d-O-g now it’s time for history. George Washington never told a lie so he ran around the corner and stole a cherry pie. How many cherries were in the pie. Close your eyes and we will see 123…

Two on time don’t be late, Thunderstorms got a date at eight and if she’s late she’ll miss her date so Two on time don’t be late ...

My 4th grade teacher taught us jump rope skills and changed this chant to:

Two on time don’t be late , Thunderstorm is really great , enjoy every jump, smile when you’re out, that’s what the game is all about .

(This on you jump until it's time to jump out)
On a mountain stands a lady
who she is I do not know
All she likes is gold and silver
All she needs is a punch in the nose
So jump in______
And jump out____

(This one you jump once and the next person has to jump once after you - very fast)
Champion
Jelly Bean (instead of Halloween)
Who likes
Ice cream
I do
says who
the monkey in zoo
Who is she..

(2 jumps at a time)
JJ,
chalav yisrael
JJ
chalav yisrael

(1 jump at a time)
J
space
J
space

(follow the motions)
Teddy bear, teddy bear turn around
teddy bear, teddy bear touch the ground
teddy bear, teddy bear tie your shoe
teddy bear, teddy bear I love you

wow! oh! wow! 'dreamerforever', you hurtled me right back to my school days!
I'm singing now the songs you posted. Such lovely memories.

Also remember - a tinker, a tailor, a soldier a sailor, a rich man, a poor man, beggar man, a thief, a doctor, a lawyer, a merchant-chief

Yes, and I wont forget how the younger kids used to say 'emergency' instead of 'a merchant chief' Very Happy

'up to Mississippi, if you miss a loop you're out!'

'jelly on the plate, jelly on the plate, a wiggle woggle, wiggle woggle, jelly on the plate'

who remembers jumping "Double Dutch?" Very Happy
I don't remember any songs when jumping DD.
Anyone remember?

I was too engrossed in keeping my balance and trying to remember - right, left, right left, to beable to utter a word, never mind sing a song... Smile

I liked playing "skoopy doo" better. B'H, with my long legs I got a thrill jumping over shoulder-height.
But I won't digress this exciting thread... back to skipping rope.

Wishing y'all a "jumping with joy" day, be"H.
