There is a question on the financial aid form that asks if we expect needing financial aid to be short term or will we need it long term.
Does our answer effect the amount of aid they will give us for this year? Or are they just trying to get a feel overall of how much the entire school body is going to need each year?
(I plan on answering honestly obviously I am just curious)

They're just trying to get a sense for long term budget projections. Sometimes, where the parents are earning very little now but expect a dramatic increase in income (think plastic surgery residents) the school may want to give a loan rather than an outright grant.
