Just went through a couple and they look just on the mark, thank you!

Which book would you recommend I read first?

Big Little Lies, they made a tv show after, so it is pretty easy/inexpensive to procure that particular book (mass market paperback, etc) to see how you like her writing. (I don't think I ever watched the show, so I can't compare)

I just finished Three Wishes, so that's on my mind. The Hypnotist's Love Story sticks out as one I liked.

What Alice Forgot is my absolute favorite book by Liane Moriarty. I reread it a few times and I usually don’t like rereading books. It is funny and insightful and poignant. Start with this one!! She is an excellent writer. I love how she makes each character seem so real but I don’t like the plots in all of her books. I actually really disliked The Husbands Secret.

So many of my favorites already mentioned (Jodi Picoult, Kristen Hannah, Mitch Albom and Sophie Kinsella) but I’ll add a few more:
Still Alice by Lisa Genova
The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards
She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman (you will end reading this one two times in a row, trust me)
The Storyteller’s Secret by Sejal Badani
The Nightingale By Kristen Hannah

This is an awesome book that I bought bc I judged the cover

Your Perfect Year: A Novel https://www.amazon.com/dp/1542.....share

When a man finds a handwritten journal on his bike designed to give him a perfect year he takes the instructions as a given and it changes his life

I was a few chapters in before I realized it was translated from Hungarian.

Defending Britta Stein by Ronald Balson. Its part of a series with a totally bizarre premise -- a non-Jewish attorney in Chicago, and her non-Jewish investigator / husband, keep winding up working Holocaust-related cases. Bizarre premise, but it was a very good read.

I just finished The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem, translated from Hebrew, which was very good. The Others, also an Israeli book, not so great.

I love anything at all by Chris Bohjalian, especially The Buffalo Soldiers.

Margaret Atwood -- The Handmaid's Tale isn't even one of her best books.

In the adventure area, David Baldacci.

Harlan Coben is not "quality," but a fast fun read by a secular Jew who makes sure his most lovable, endearing characters are secular Jews.

Chris Whitaker's We Begin at the End.

I wasn't all that thrilled with The Paper Palace. There were parts that were good. But too much gratuitous child abuse and urination.

The Book of Lost Friends and The Midnight Library are both phenomenal.

Diane Chamberlain-loved The Courage Tree and tbh almost all her books.

Oh yes I loved What Alice Forgot, that’s one of my favorites as well.

I like different books/authors depending on my mood.

Any books by Sophie Kinsella are great for fun and light reading. She makes me laugh out loud.

The Silent Patient for a good psychological thriller with a twist. Also The Wife Between Us had a great twist. Another with a twist is Then She was Gone, and also Behind The Red Door.

The Storyteller’s Secret was heartrending and sad but sucked me in so well and had me thinking about it for days after finishing it.
