I wasn't feeling well last week. I took a rapid and it was negative. The next day I took another rapid and again it was negative. Finally the following day I got a positive. What's interesting is that something similar happened to 2 of my kids in the past year. They had false negatives and were confirmed to be positive by on overnight PCR.
My doctor tells me the rapids are 85% accurate. My personal experience has been a disaster. What's everyone else experiencing with rapids?

When they are positive, it is accurate usually. A lot more false negatives because if the viral load is smaller, it isn't so sensitive. My doctor says to not even take rapids just pcr for this reason.

In our family 3 out of 6 ppl had negative rapids And PCR were positives.
2 of the negatives had fever and symptoms at time of testing.
4 of the ppl had totally asymptomatic covid.

If it's any consolation, I have had the same experience with rapid strep tests. I think you just sacrifice some accuracy with the rapids.
