DS 12 takes many snacks to school each day. Is there such a thing as too many? They aren't especially unhealthy, but I'm wondering if I need to be teaching him some type of 'restraint'- that he doesn't need to eat at every free moment and indulge every craving?

How many is many? I would say 2-3 is normal, more might be a bit excessive.
Is he eating these instead of breakfast/ lunch?

My kids take too many snacks. Yes, I know they are always “hungry” ie cravey, but I don’t feel I can teach them restraint long distance, and if I don’t provide enough [in their eyes] they will be begging other kids, which is worse. So I let them take ‘too many’. I draw the line at food dyes, msg and hfcs. The rest of the day When they are home, it’s nutrient dense, high quality foods, and no snacking every minute.
