Hi,

Can anyone recommend good titles about personal safety to use as springboards with young kids? Links would be great too. Thanks a lot!

Thanks.
From the online description I thought Let's Stay Safe was about crossing streets, helmets, etc...
Is it also about personal body safety?

It is about all that and more. Personal safety, abuse etc.

Each page deals with another safety issue. I was amazed and thrilled when it came out.

They incorporate many safety areas that children need to know about so its not a “head on” book about abuse. And therefore easier to use. Its all within.

Great springboard for young ones. You can smoothly continue the conversation from its pages.

It has 2 pages on it. I hate the writing in this book and wish it had been written normally. The rhymes don't make sense and are hard to understand. The illustrations are great though and so I ad lib it.

When reading the let's stay safe book, you can elaborate one day on the fire safety page and another day on the private places page. In this way you are bringing up the discussion in a relaxed, non obvious way.

I like let's stay safe gr younger kids as you can add detail on every page, and then when you get to the page on personal stuff you can always add a little.
When they get a little older I like the book personal privacy, it's more detailed.

Talking about private places

- very specific and detailed with examples

Let’s stay safe

- general safety. Body safety is discussed as a natural part of all other discussions normalizing it. Like just like we talk about fires and helmets we talk about no one can touch you. None of the discussions are taboo.

Thanks all.
Talking about private places (feldheim) seems to be out of print.
Any ideas where to get?

That’s what I like about it, it makes personal safety part of a general conversation which I think helps them absorb the message better. There are a few pages on personal safety and as a parent, it’s obviously the point of the book.

Yes
It's very very well done. Makes body safety very matter of fact same as wearing a helmet etc
