My son will be going into seventh grade and wants to go to sleepaway camp. He's in a regular Yeshiva day school, follows sports, goes to learning programs at shul, etc. We are not into brand name clothing and don't watch movies, so someone told us that he will only fit into a Yeshivish camp. Is this true? (We're not really yeshivish).
Any suggestions for camps?
Thanks!!

Just so you know, its very late to apply to camp agudah. They are full in seconds and they open registration in November.

Was going to say exactly that. Camps are full already, but obviously there's always room for pull.

It doesn't hurt to try by calling their office and finding out.

Not sure what you mean by not yeshivish. What about romimu? Or rayim. Rayim changed this year to be only the second half.

There's also Bonim - has a nice mix of boys. They still have room.

Tashbar (full name Toras Chaim Tashbar) usually doesn't fill up so early. It's quite a frum and non-materialistic crowd, so your son won't have issues with no movies or no brand names.

Thank you all for replying.
By not yeshivish I mean that my husband works, wears colored shirts, we do let our kids follow sports up to a point (not going to games). But also sheltered in terms of no movies, careful about books and internet.
Unfortunately Tashbar won't work for a silly reason - my son doesn't want to go there with a specific person who will be there, otherwise I would have been open to it.
I will look into the others.
Any more replies welcome, thanks!!

I sent my son to Romimu and he loved it; the camp itself is very impressive and professional. The camp has mainly boys from Brooklyn and the Five Towns, also I’m sure many of them are exposed to movies and things of that nature so if those things would be an issue it may not be the right camp for him.
