Hi,

I'm buying a new dishwasher and am thinking of getting one with a 3rd rack. Does anyone have personal experience with one with a 3rd rack and can share which dishwasher (brand, series, model etc....) they have and their experience with the dishwasher and if they feel the 3rd rack is worth it for them?
Also if you can mention if you have with controls on the outside vs. on top.

Thanks!

Third rack meaning a silverware rack? We have one, I think it’s Bosch? It’s definitely worth it for us because we use a LOT of silverware. The controls for ours are on the top.

If you use it for flatware, you can remove the flatware baskets and have more room for dishes. Or use both, if necessary.

We rarely use it for flatware. Rather, we use it for large utensils like spatulas and slotted spoons that don't fit well elsewhere. Its very useful to us in that regard.

Ours is a Bosch.

We keep the silverware holder in, because we have so much!! We use the middle rack for oversized utensils and for small pots and containers.

Definitely a good think because it frees up valuable real estate since those silverware containers eat up a lot of space. Also it helps the flatware clean better since items don't get clumped together like they tend to do in a basket.

Bosch makes great dishwashers. My DW is paneled so controls are on the top. My previous Bosch dishwasher was a regular SS door and also have controls on the top. I like that because it was much sleeker looking than buttons in the front.

You didn't ask but one real advantage of Bosch is that they don't use heating coils so you can put plastic anywhere as it won't melt. It is also very quiet - so quiet that mine has a light that shines on the floor to show it is operating.

Ok thank you everyone for your replies, they were very helpful!

The Bosch we were looking at is on backorder, but maybe it's worth waiting for since it seems a few people here have positive experiences with it.

Thanks!
