How big is your salad?
What do you put in it?

(A salad for lunch let's say not a salad as a side dish)

A big bowl. (I'm on a diet) lettuce, grape tomatoes cut in haf, cucumber, white onions, avocado cut in cubes, with lemon juice and olive oil. Sometimes I add grilled chicken.

Romaine, sometimes cabbage/carrot mix (the dole coleslaw bag with no dressing),cucumbers, tomatos, maybe peppers (whatever I have).

I need a protein or to me, it's not lunch, so I usually make salmon to take to work (baked with spices, no oil, or lately I've been loving this maple soy marinade). On shabbos, I put grilled boneless skinless chicken breast and that's lunch.

I add some ramen noodles for crunch right before I eat, and shake a few shakes of garlic rice vinegar and sesame oil over it.

I always add a legume/grain, in addition to a carb-free protein.
And my salad FILLS a 5 cup Rubbermaid container.

So I have my green/cucumber/tomato/pepper…..
Either corn/quinoa/beans
Chicken/deli/salmon/ cheese

Usually my lunch is a salad, which looks big enough for a whole family ...
I put in lots of veggies, plus one or two sources of protein.
For example: cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, kohlrabi, lettuce/cabbage, avocado, plus either tuna or chickpeas or cubed feta cheese. Sometimes I add a hard-boiled egg (especially if I'm having tuna). Sometimes I add a cooked vegetable if I have it in the fridge, such as beets, zucchini or roasted pepper.
I toss it with olive oil, lemon juice and salt.

I take at least 4 veggies, e.g. tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, chicoree,
dressing: lemon, salt, pepper (olive oil)
or balsamico vinager, salt,
or mustard, a little mayo, salt, water

for myself I make a bowl about 400g

To put on the table I put in one veggie (about fist size) per person.

Large dinner plate filled with romaine lettuce, red onion, kirbies, peppers and grape tomatoes. Drizzle with olive oil, drop of garlic, and black pepper, and generously season with kosher salt. Whole wheat turkey sandwich on the side.

I was just thinking if I'm weird that I eat a whole serving bowl full of lettuce and add-ons. I guess I'm normal... Very Happy

Anyone else feels like it gets really expensive? I love a big salad for lunch but the items are so pricey lately!

Yes! I was just saying this. Eating healthy is so expensive. I once calculated the cost of my salad. Eeek.

I like a chefs salad with a lot of meat like from mr broadway. I wouldn't be full enough otherwise.
