We are trying to make flight arrangements to Israel for that day. Most flights are sold out, and the remaining few are almost sold out with abnormally high prices. The day before and after is regular price, regular flights and regular seats.

What's going on?

Purim Katan?

Surprised it would have such a dramatic impact on seat availability...

True, but Feb 15 and Feb 17 aren't affected by Presidents Day? What about Feb 16 is causing sold out flights and higher than normal prices? Regular flights that week go by 750 rou d trip, that day its 1200! Why?

Possibly an aliya flight where Nefesh bNefesh books almost the whole plane? Just a guess. I have no idea.

On all airlines? And the only united direct flight available that day is at 1200?

Because you probably get PCR results by Friday and are out of bidud for the weekend. Feb 15 is Tuesday, a little early for a long weekend. The 17th means giving up on shabbos (and a delay in getting results) so it kills the idea of a long weekend.
