I would never switch to them.
They called me once on an erev shabbos, saying that I can save $ on my ConEd bill. But first I have to answer a few questions so they can pull up my account.
They pretended to be ConEd. I asked a few times because it sounded weird. But they assured me that they are ConEd and are offering a $ saving promotion.
At the end the needed a "voice" signature, where they ask questions and I say I agree and understand.
One of them was if I understand that Ambit will now be my energy supplier. I said, "What??"
Then the guy asked the lady who was taking the voice signature, "Did you get it?" she said yes. 
Congratulations, you are now signed up with Ambit Energy!!
I quickly hung up and called Con Ed to tell them I didn't authorize any switch.
Then I called back Ambit to cancel (with another representative.)
It was so scammy.

yes gamzu, these companyies are all over and its not new. they pretend to be con-ed. but legally they cant say they are it theyre not so they just call and say im calling 'about' your con-ed bill. I got probably 200 phone calls from these crazy pple. there are lots of companies doin it now, and even if I migh save money, I feel like its a scam and afraid of what I can lose more that what I can save!

Con Ed told me that even though it costs less per unit, they have a delivery fee which Con Ed doesn't.
