Ordering an exterior door....should I get it factory painted or not? Its a lot more expensive to get it done at the factory and I am limited in color options, but is it really a much better paint job? I am willing to spend but only if its worth it...its a couple of hundred dollars more

It is definitely a smoother, better finish. People do say it lasts better as well.
You should be able to specify any paint color you want, and in my experience the upcharge is a lot more than a couple hundred dollars but well worth the money.

thanks, so I think I am going to go with unpainted, as its really much cheaper, and my painter will do it. What color door goes well with traditional red brick? I am thinking of black, dark gray or dark blue-gray?

these colors all go well

personally I like black - more classic and IMHO the blue-greys will go out quicker....

thanks so much! I love sea serpent, naval and dark night. Which one is the most timeless from those three? Also, what color screen door would you do? Black or white?

Are your windows white with white trim?

If yes go with white

If not go with black

You like whats on trend - which is no problem!

From those three I would do sea serpent but they are all close enough

It lasts much better. Does not compare to painting it yourself which come off easily and quickly and can't be properly restored when it does.

But they don't have many color options, and are back-logged with the painting for at least 3-4 months...

it does fine to go with black then
unless you have white trim - then I'd stick to white so that it blends in with the trim
I hate screens but if you tend to keep your door open they are neccassary
