Hey, anyone here saw Miriam Anzovin's Daf Hayomi videos? I noticed that some frum women liked them, but they actually really bothered me.
Any thoughts?

I think she's cute, eloquent and polished.
I think her videos are disgusting, sacreligious and pompous.

I heard her interviewed by Chochmat Nashim, which I usually support, and I can't believe she is being encouraged to be "genuine", "authentic".
What do those words even mean? Curse like a sailor, degrade our Amoraim?
Learning Torah from a self-proclaimed atheist?!?!? She and her supporters have lost the plot.

Thanks Vicki, glad to hear others feel the same way I do.
She really does look cute and speaks well, could be people are blinded by that.

I know her family. She’s a really sweet person and I love how connected she is to Yiddishkeit.

She doesn’t have the same reverence for Torah as a frum person does, but that’s not really something that could be expected of her.

I wish I studied the daf every day like she does! And I'm glad for well meaning Jewish content- she isn't mocking, which makes all the difference.

Honestly, I don't watch her videos and don't think it would be right for me. She never advertised them as "teaching frum women Torah." I don't think everything she says is Toras Moshe MiSinai and I may not agree with some of her tone and/or content.

But I think it's wrong to be so critical of a Jewish woman learning Gemara and sharing what she knows with others.

I saw exactly one episode so take that fwiw. It was charming. Maybe too much so. (I’m just jealous, she looks like a model.) Maybe a little too flip in tone, but I’m impressed that she learns and blown away by her ability to present Sahara-dry material in an engaging way. (I’m jealous of this, too.)
