I work part time, less then 20 hours a week. Do I need to give my boss shalach manos ?
I don’t feel like giving since I don’t work that much but we spend all the hours together so she might expect something ?

No, but your boss should give you Shalach Manos.
(Unless your boss also happens to be a friend or neighbor, in which case it would be appropriate.)

I give with rest of the employees. Not sure I would give if I am the only employee.
Aprox $20 per person.

My experience is only with male employees (my dh). He gifts his boss nicely as do many of the other employees he shows up with. His boss does not give back as nice. But does give pesach bonus.

I am the only employee never gave one in 7 years and never got one. We are not friends. He is my boss. I am very into boundaries and minimizing mixing work and home. If it was a group gift maybe I would join in but not me alone.

I think it really depends on the office setting and relationship
Where dh works the boss has a rule no giving no receiving

my husband has a small business. Gives nice to the workers by delivery . The women workers dont give back and the men give their regular simple shalach manos that they bring to the door on taanis esther or purim.

I believe the general rule is gift down not up. IE you should not be gifting your boss but your boss can gift to you

These replies are making me feel uncomfortable! I just started working for someone remotely and I'm so grateful for the opportunity., that I did arrange a chocolate shalach manos to be delivered to him. Is this inappropriate?
