So if I use him there’s a big chance I’ll have one of the other drs instead of him for delivery?

I use Dr. Giovine myself and think that he is one of the most amazing doctors out there, but I don't know that his entire practice is geared toward high risk pregnancies. He has many other doctors and midwifes and many of them are really bad. There is no way to know who will be in the hospital by your delivery. I know of someone who was high risk and used him (she had his cell # - he's that kind of doctor), but I don't know that he was there for delivery.

I've heard of someone Dr. Kaufman, supposed to be good but don't know more info.

I was also high risk and post C-section. I called Rabbi Kenigsberg (Echo in Lakewood) for referrals, and then I called Rivky Senderovitz to review the names he gave me. I ended up travelling to NYC for my next 4 pregnancies...

I don't know anything about Abdelhak, but I do NOT recommend most of the other names posted upthread. You sound like you need a top high risk OB. Don't play around with your health.

Dr Giovine is absolutely not who you want. His practice accepts jerseycare and they need to see as many patients as they can to make profit. It’s true that he’s a great doctor but you wouldn’t be his own patient, just one person out of hundreds.

My sister was very happy with her OB but he retired. That seems to happen a lot around here. Once you’re traveling to North Jersey why not stick with your doctor in the city?

I really want to continue seeing my nyc dr. I feel like doing research isn’t enough. A large percentage of people have uneventful pregnancies/ births and a dr they rave about might not be able to handle my situation. I’m at a very high risk of uterine rupture during labor. So I’m afraid to take the risk of traveling so far to manhattan when I’m in active labor. This is so stressful. I was so looking forward to having another baby but I feel like the dr situation is seeping out all the joy.

I also had “doctor situation” when I was pregnant. It was also an IF baby and after losses. I also felt stressed when I would have liked to have felt bliss.
So I get it
Please do your best to keep the joy.
IyH the doctor situation will work out. Daven that HaShem should help you find the best shaliach.
And HaShem should help you to enjoy the pregnancy too!

I’m also new to Lakewood and was about to travel to my cash OB in Manhattan. Ended up making private insurance and seeing Dr. Tal and his group. He’s high risk and really good. I’m a high risk patient as well.

I'm the imamother Iris who posted this yesterday. I had the same issue. I had uneventful pregnancies, but my uterus ruptured more than once during labor. I used a NY doctor because there was no one closer that I had confidence in.

You weren’t nervous traveling so far during labor? That’s when the risk of rupture increases and I’d want to be near a hospital!

So interesting.

Last time I asked for ob referrals one of those organizations told me they don't recommend obs (because it's political) and another organization me 2 names, but one of those was a name that I know has a terrible bedside manner and wouldn't use anyway.

I agree with this. for OB's and when I tried calling them to get a referral for a diffrent type of specialist for my child.

They are great orgnazitaoan but everything is very political re whom they recommend etc. I ended up dong my own very detailed research and BH was very happy with my results...

If you are going to pay out of pocket either way, definitely go with Dr. Abdelhack. He is the best for high risk and Dr. Ratzersdorfer is amazing too

from my research, being high risk, the top in new jersey is abdelhak and next level up is going the NYC (rebarber or baxi etc)
my research consists of networking within the lakewood community from speaking to high risk women who they used, why and what they were happy/upset abt

I’m high risk and have IVF babies, but not vbac, I bh never ended up having a c-section. I credit that to my doctor - Dr. Tal. He does not have good bedside manner but his associate is really sweet and bh they’ve guided me through numerous high risk IVF pregnancies.
