What are the current rules for entering Canada for an American spouse of a Canadian citizen? We would like to go for pesach but DH vaccine is over 6 months old. Is that an issue?

As long as everyone over 12 is vaccinated they are welcome.
A Canadian has a right to return regardless of vaccination status. However an unvaccinated Canadian can not get on an airplane or enter US unless they are American.
Definitely keep checking the official travel guidelines as things change re:testing.
Btw- less than half of Canadians are boosted. By the time the booster was available people weren’t buying the hype any more.

We just went and got in no problem and ArriveCan denied us. We were honest snd upfront. They didn’t seem so strict.

Does he have 2 vaccines?

Is either of his parents Canadian? (That helps a lot)

(On arriveCan I think they only ask if you have proof of vaccination. Not dates)

He has a J&J from last year pesach. Does that count as vaccination?

No Canadian parents. His only Canadian family is me Smile

I thought no one is allowed on any planes leaving Canada unless they're vaccinated, even if they're American.

That is the airline not the country.
We were told it is more risky to fly then drive if not vaccinated bec it’s up to the airline.
But we were told most airlines have stopped checking vaccine cards but they still can. So it is still a risk.
They are not examining dates too deeply on the vaccine card when letting on planes.

From ArriveCan site

https://travel.gc.ca/travel-co.....fully

To qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller to Canada, you must:
have received at least 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine accepted for travel, a mix of 2 accepted vaccines
or at least 1 dose of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine

Doesn’t say anything about that on the site.
I guess you could always call to be sure.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I meant unvaccinated can not fly and a US citizen can return to the US unvaccinated by land unvaccinated. I left out the by land part.

There is no date attached to the vaccination requirement. As long as you've had two doses (or one dose of J&J), you can enter Canada without a problem.
Starting April 1st, fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to present a negative PCR test.
Be sure to complete ArriveCan beforehand. Enjoy your trip!
