Presumably OP used a SM in New York City which does have a tax on beauty services.
I had never thought that services were taxed because most services are not. I was unpleasantly surprised to find out that the services of my decorator are taxed at almost 10% - the sales tax rate in Los Angeles. |
I'm not in NYC I'm in NY State.
