I don't line my cabinets. Is it required?

Not required. We also don't line shelves and drawers. Just clean well with soap.

The first year we were in this apartment I got plastic lining and cut it to size for all the shelves in use over Pesach. After Pesach is over we spray it clean then roll it, label each roll as to where it goes, and put it away for next year. It takes two minutes to put out, and has enough eight to stay in place without taping. No real work involved.

I have a very small kitchen, and often lean dishes against the backsplash to dry. So on Pesach I prefer to cover it. If I'm using hot water to wash dishes, they can often be warm when I lean them there to dry. Probably not hot enough to be a real issue, but I prefer to be careful.

There's no one specific look how a jewish home looks like on pesach.

There is no one specific way the kitchen has to look, but covering counters etc is pretty universal. What is sad, is that this boy (and others) has grown up not knowing how to make Pesach, or even that making Pesach is not a superhuman feat, and really can be done and enjoyed at home.

If you are jewish and you have never been a part of Pesach preparations in the home.( except packing for hotel stay) you do miss out a part of jewish life. I wouldn't want to be married to someone who his entire life has done zero Pesach preparations at home.
