Dress is otherwise perfectly clean.
It’s lined.
Do dry cleaners get rid of the smell?
anything I can do myself?
Tia!

Dab it with a cloth dampened with the cheapest vodka you can find. This is how professional theater companies freshen costumes between wearings. When you put on 7 or 8 shows a week, you can't have the costumes dry-cleaned after every wearing.

That’s interesting. It won’t have a vodka smell?

No, the alcohol evaporates, leaving no residue.

I don’t own vodka.
I see so many options on amazon.
Any recommendations? Links appreciated!

Turn dress inside out, sprinkle armpit area with baking soda, hang outdoors to air out.
Also, try putting a sheet of fabreeze in the sleeve area.

Or look for ETHYL rubbing alcohol at a pharmacy and dilute with a little water. Vodka is usually 40% alcohol, sometimes 50% (80-100 proof; proof is double the percentage of alcohol, don't ask me why); rubbing alcohol is usually 70-90%.
If you go for vodka, get plain, not flavored, and go for the cheapest you can find. You're using it as a cleaning agent, not drinking it; "quality" and brand don't matter.

So... buy some.
You don't own any of the products you see on Amazon either.

Right. Did you read the next sentence?
So I asked for a recommendation which to buy since there were loads of choices and quite expensive
Anyway I just ordered the rubbing alcohol Zaq recommended.
All’s good. Thanks for your input.

Febreeze makes a spray that works pretty well. You can try that -
https://www.febreze.com/en-us/.....roll:
I find that the extra strength one has a bit of a stronger smell than the regular one (there's a bit of a perfume smell left behind when using either one).

Oh this is interesting. Thanks.
I see it comes in unscented too.

I thought you meant "No, that won't work because I don't own vodka. Can you suggest some other product instead?"
Now your answer makes much more sense

How do you sprinkle with baking soda if it's a powder?
