Where do you hide nash you dont want your kids to see?
We do have treats in our house, be it shabbos , rewards, special occasions etc.
I often buy stuff I dont want my kids to see, either treats for myself or for special occasions.
Wherever I put it ,my kids seem to find it and drive me mad about it.
This includes high up in the cupboard , in the car etc. Good hiding places...
Im really asking seriously, where do you keep treats or foods you dont want your kids to know about?
And if they do find it how do you tell them no?
Please give me advice.
Not looking to banish treats from my house .
Thanks so much.

Huh. This reminds me of the question about hiding books deemed inappropriate or other items. My parents and my husband's parents used to confiscate electronics and put them in their drawers but it only made the kids look through their drawers. I don't like that. So sneaky and invasive!
So I've wondered...I've never heard of a parent solving these problems by locking things in a safe and even letting their children know it's there. But is there a reason not to do that?
It wouldn't be practical for the car. But maybe you could could get a lock for a certain cabinet or a locked box inside of it. I did know someone who had a dessert freezer that they kept locked with a combination lock.

I don’t understand the issue. Say no they can’t have it. I just put it on a high shelf and say it’s not for now.

Depends what lengths your kids will go to look find it lol
We keep ours in the walk in closet very high up in a grey box with no special markings and when kids get a Nash I lock the bedroom so they don't see where the box is , also the grey box I have a bunch of them all full all high up only one contains the Nash and it gets switched with other grey boxes sometimes
My kids got used to it and stopped looking for it but they know it's in our room somewhere

I have some snacks that are for anyone any time and some stuff that I dont want the kids blowing through. They get it for school lunch etc but I find that if I have too much out at once I am at the grocery store every two days. This is my balance.

I don’t hide anything. If they say, oh you bought Doritos I say yes, we are saving it for shabbos party.

Yes, exactly this .
But where to keep it?
I dont wNt them keep seeing stuff and constantly hearing no.
I like to surprise them and treat them when theyr good or just because.
They also know I have a sweet tooth...

My sister used to hide her candy in her file cabinet. Just make sure the kids never see you hide it because you don’t want them misplacing important documents.

I know some people that keep goodies on top of the China closet. Pretty high up where barely an adult can reach.

In a drawer in the laundry room. In the piano bench. Behind the china closet in the dining room. Behind the basement curtains. On a peg with all the coats, still in a plastic bag. Come on, be creative!!! (Makes Pesach cleaning a bit rough though).

I don’t buy anything I wouldn’t let my kids have.
Unless it’s birthday cake for a birthday party, I don’t see why they can’t have a treat when they occasionally ask for one.
