Beautiful name!
Not common, but not less beautiful because of that!
(I'm actually from a ShulaMEET pronouncing community, and find that very heavy, I think Shulamis is nicer and easier! You can also say Shuli which is very sweet and easy, though I like to keep full names.)
Is it really the equivalent of Shlomo? Or just sounds the same/same letters?

Yes! It is the equivalent. This is what it says on the wikipedia page for the name:
Shulamis (Hebrew: שולמית) or Shulamit is the feminine form of the Hebrew name Solomon (in Hebrew, "Shlomo", Hebrew: שְלמה), related to the word "shalom" (Hebrew: שָׁלוֹם), or "peace".

I know a few shulamises. They are all lovely people.

The adult shulamises I know are very energetic, active people who are busy helping their families/klal yisroel.

Personally, I don't love the name and wouldn't use it, but I love those people!

I don’t like it..
Doesn’t have a smooth easy flow..
Also you end up up with shulamis / Shulamit dilemma and it’s awkward for other ppl

Love the name and beautiful meaning.

Uncommon but not to the point of rare.

Friend recently use the name just because they loved it (and didnt want run of the mill).

Shulamis is nice on its own, but I love nicknames and would use Shuli.

It's not just the female version of Shlomo. It's in Shir Hashirim. Rashi says
הַשְּׁלֵמָה בֶאֱמוּנָתֵךְ עִמּוֹ
The one who is perfect in her faith in Him

Shulamis is quite uncommon around here, but I went to seminary in england around 20 years ago, and there were quite a few shulamis. Maybe it is still common in europe.
Anyways, a close relative went through a very difficult tekufa, and was facing many nissionos. She went to a very chashuv rov in ey (I dont remember who though) for a bracha, and he suggested she change her name to shulamis and it will bring harmony in her life.

My name is Shulamis and I enjoyed this thread Smile
I’ve always got compliments on my name, interestingly very often from non Jewish people who say wow that’s such a pretty name.
I believe the source is from shir hashirim and comes from the root shalem = complete. Though of course it is related to Shalom as well.

I think it's a beautiful name! Lovely meaning as well. Too bad I will probably never use it since I have plenty of nice family names to use and it's a bit long to use as a second name along with them, but it sounds so pretty!

Using the Ashkenazi pronunciation is going to make her life awkward if she ever moves to Israel. Something to consider.

I really dislike the name with the Ashkenazi pronunciation. It sounds clunky and the opposite of melodious. And my primary association with it is as the name of a school rather than a personal name.
Shulamit is fine. It's not a name you hear among young people in my circles but it's tanachic and therefore classic.

I have a sister in law Shulamis, and she is the nicest, kindest, most wonderful person.
Personally I prefer Shulamit or even Shulameet, but this is YOUR baby not anyone else’s, and you need to pick the one that YOU like best.

That's my daughter's name. She lives in EY and still uses the S at the end.
