I'm posting just because I'm genuinely curious to know how much does a travel agent earn for each ticket they sell?
For example if I buy a round trip ticket to Eretz Yisroel for $1,000, how much does the travel agent earn? And also, do they earn less for a cheaper ticket than if I buy a ticket when it's prime season and it costs me $1,400? Do they get a percent? Do they earn more based on how many tickets they sell?
Really curious!

In general, travel agents make a commission on the ticket. It can vary depending on the airline and orgination of travel. The more expensive the flight, the higher the commission since it's a percentage. For example, a flight from NYC-TLV that costs $1400, the travel agent may make 4% commission, which comes out to $56 per ticket.

Thanks for replying!
Is 4% theoretical or in practice? I think $56 per ticket is really little. When a clothing store sells a dress for $1,000 they earn much more.

It is theoretical but unforunately, the commission rates are not that much. It used to be more. Travel agents make the real money from corporate travel or business tickets.

They don't make much on those tickets. Sometimes a few $$
