On a high enough flame how long does gefilte fish need to cook in a pot. My fish burnt. My husband is insisting there isn't enough time to cook a new loaf. I told him an hour is sufficient. What do you say???

The packages usually say one and a half hours. Keep it on a low flame, slow boil and make sure you have enough water in there.

Probably receiving this response too late but you can slice the frozen gefilte, spray and lay on cookie sheet. Bake in a 350 oven until set about 20-25 minutes. Keep an eye on it for exact timing.

Thanks for all the responses!!
My husband decided to add water into the burnt pot. I had a visceral reaction because now the burnt taste will seep into the whole log, not just the bottom. So I told him he can make a new one. He said that there isn't enough time.

I simmer it for a half hour. More gets it very soggy.

I bake it in a loaf pan in the oven for 1.5 hours on 350. Put water to cover (or almost cover) fish.
