My daughter did it once or twice, then stopped and started again at 2.5 months.

It's not typical, but I don't think it's abnormal. Be careful not to let the baby roll off a surface.

Mine did that (from back to stomach!). It's definitely not 'normal' but it's fine Very Happy

Yup, my daughter did that. Rolled one way at 5 weeks, both ways consistently by 2 months. She was also crawling properly by 6 months. Now as a 7 yr old, she's very active; the kind of kid that needs space to run/jump around and does cartwheels around the house.

Usually at that age babies will roll over using the weight of their heads. He might stop once he gains more weight in his body and learn to roll over again using the muscles in his torso.

My pediatrician said it’s normal (my preemie did this) but then they often ‘forget’ and don’t do it again for months

I think the weight of a child plays a role. My sister's kids are all super fat and take forever to do gross motor skills. My sister in law has tiny kids and do gross motor all "early" we only worry about delays and cautiously welcome advances.

All my babies do it, not the norm but yes it’s normal. Some babies do it once or twice by accident and then not again until a few months but mine do it consistently from a few days old.

I've had a few. Some stayed with it, some took a break.
My 4 week old has rolled over a couple of times.

If baby is very strong and seems to be meeting milestones too early then check for lip or tongue ties bc that is the reason for this tension. It shouldn't be happening.

My baby did that a few times then stopped and restarted atv4 months. He was not early in any other milestone (for example he walked at 16 months).

My baby does have both but my other kids didn't. My babies sleep on their stomachs so they develop neck control and muscle strength earlier than most.

But rolling over
Rigid body
Furrowed brow
Curled toes
Etc are signs of tension not of strength. Just raising awareness here.

Good points 🙂
Not relevant in my case BH but we've been doing craniosacral therapy and he's actually quite chilled and relaxed most of the time but I've seen rigidity as well in a different kid (no ties but bubble palate plus other trauma). CST in that case as well. No recollection of her milestones but I had reached out to a PT since her muscle tone was seemingly much higher on one side. BH she's much older now and no lingering issues.
I definitely understand what you're pointing out.

This is definitely true. But 4 weeks is still early, even for belly sleepers.
