My toddler just got shoes and he HATES them.
Any advice? He’s been walking like a pro for a while already and now refuses to take a single step without me holding his hand while the shoes are on. I’m going crazy!

Are they a soft, flexible shoe? Or one that is hard and more structured?

How long does he have them for? I would give him a few days to get used to the new feeling.

Use soft soles like robeez or even socks unless they're outside.

There are the first type of walking shoes that have a thinner more flexible sole so it's easier for the toddler to walk and is lighter than 'real' shoes.
It will take them time to get used to shoes on the feet, but if he really isn't wanting to walk in them, it might be worth going back to the shop and checking the fit and whether there's a lighter pair that might be better.

My kids are the same way. The first 2-3 weeks I get them shoes I only put them on when I'm going out. That's how they're slowly getting used to having something on the foot. It's not necessarily the shoe. They're not used to having this (what is to babies) bothersome thing on their foot. I take it off as soon as I come home.
