They shouldn't be bringing anything with them. Only clothing and personal items, think 2 or 3 suitcases each. All home items should be bought new or used there. Don't waste money shipping things that will inevitably not be in a condition to ship back.

This is obviously only applicable to newlyweds who don't have a home set up yet in any case. Obviously if youre making aliyah with a family and have a whole house to transplant its a different story.

Maybe the son that's getting married is already in Israel, and has lots of belongings still in his parents' home that need to be sent to him.
Just guessing.
How much would it cost to send by mail from the regular post office?

Is your son already in Israel and getting married there without coming to America before the wedding?
In that case, he should have most of his day to day requirements already with him, and know where to buy more if necessary. If you want to send more stuff out maybe you could split it among people who will be going for the wedding, or pay for an extra suitcase or two.

Shipping takes a long time and he'll have to pay taxes to release his things from customs. If he's not going to be back between now and the wedding, it's best to send suitcases with people who are traveling and to pay the extra fee. (Even better if you can find friends who fly first class and get free baggage.)

If you’re in the tri state area there’s an organization that ships USED clothing for under $30 a box. So that can work for winter stuff and stuff that isn’t needed immediately.

If they’re getting married in israel, have family members bring in extra suitcases for them because you pay around $100 for the first suitcase but closer to $250 for a second or overweight.

El Al is the cheapest about $100 for a piece if you pre book. Are you going for the wedding? Take extra pieces with you.
