You need a machine. I have one, my dh bought it for me for very cheap on sale. They don't cost a lot but you'd also need the base coat, top coat and alcohol. It's very easy to use. I never get my nails done at a salon anymore Smile

Essie and opi and Sally hansen all carry a gel like type of polish. The essie twisty bottle is the heel like one. You need to put the essie gel like to coat on also. It's pretty good. It's not as long lasting as the gel, but also doesn't chip as fast as regular polish. And the best part is, you can take it off like reg polish
