It was recommended to me to go here to see a therapist. I am new to the area in general. What can you tell me about this place? Are these therapists any good? How do I pick one? I looked at the providers and see there are many nurses and stuff. I'm confused, why nurses for a therapy place? Who do you recommend there?

Ive seen therapists at Achieve for the past 3 years. They’re great! They do have some very newly licensed therapists (like any other clinic) and the first therapist I was assigned actually was too inexperienced for me. I just asked to be transferred to someone else, and that therapist has been so so amazing.

I don’t think you can pick a therapist - you schedule an intake session with one of their intake specialists and they assign you a therapist that they think you’ll work well with. You can request someone specific I guess, but they may not have availability for new clients.

I think I needed to do a health visit back when I started seeing them, and that was with a nurse at their office. She just asked me a bunch of questions about my physical health. It was pretty random but they get a lot of funding from the government so maybe it’s to fill some requirement in order to get funding.

I wasn’t on insurance when I started using the clinic and I was able to set up a sliding scale fee with them based on my income that had me paying $25 a session! It was awesome.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like they have over 100 therapists! And some are still training. Most look really young. If I don't like who I get, can I request someone else? They have all those nurses just for intake? It is kind of making me nervous. For intake, just a few should be plenty, it's not like they have intake to do all hours to keep that many busy. Usually the therapist themselves did the intake in the past with me.

The nurses aren’t all full time.

Also, some are psychiatry nurse practitioners.

It’s comprehensive and because it has a very high designation they have to offer many services but you don’t have to use all of them.

Eta a disclaimer that I work at Achieve. I’m not comfortable answering much and I’m also obviously biased but just wanted to clarify the nursing part of things.

Their website isn't up to date.
It lists therapists that are no longer on their team.
