So... My daughter had an amazing first year of school. Truly, truly transformative year. Baruch Hashem a million times over! We are so blessed. We are of course gifting her four morahs. No question. My question is, how far after that do I go?? Hakaras hatov is extremely important to me. But I have absolutely nothing to do with the English principal (I don't even know what she looks like...), nor do I have much at all to do with the Hebrew assistant principal. I spoke to her at orientation day in the beginning of the year, and never saw her after that. But I know they obviously much have played major roles in my daughter's year. I have a connection to the woman who guides the girls from the carpool lane to the school door every day, and the two guys who ensure everyone's safety and direct traffic (I am gifting them, as I think that's also a big kiddush Hashem). I'm gifting the English assistant principal and the office manager as they take charge of dismissal and hold my daughter's hand until they find our car, as my daughter gets nervous that she won't be able to find our car on her own. So I have more of a personal connection to them. But when do I stop?? I can think of reasons to just keep giving! But I can't go overboard here... I probably would of I had the money but right now I don't!

You seem like a very generous person and hakaros hatov is a beautiful middah. You must show appreciation to anyone who did you a favor but you don’t must break the bank. Buy a pack of beautiful thank you notes and write each of them a heartfelt message. A muffin and a drink with the card for $3.00 total is enough if that is what you can afford. It’s the appreciation that counts more than the monetary value of the gift.
