I have a simple and blah room

We have two full size beds
No headboards
The width of our room fits the two beds against the walls with about three feet in between where we have a small night table.
We have two windows. Cheapo blinds from walmart and sheerish drapes
Simple linen creamish tan
Walls are yellowish white, I guess cream.
Cream with tan carpet
Salvaged dresser that we sanded and painted.

I would like to make our room look nicer.

Would like to get headboards, probably tufted. Gray or blue. What do you suggest?
I feel like we would have to repaint walls to not look so yellow
Don't want to replace carpet (how do you clean it?? Has stains of things that spilled. Don't ask)
If I got gray headboard and probably even blue, would have to get new linen!!??

Besides for the headboards, I wouldn't want the rest of the updating to cost more than $200.. Is that feasible?

would love to see links to nice master bedrooms

Thanjs

Also would love links to headboards.

What do you think is appropriate price for headboards?

Check wayfair, or google cheap headboards. Personally I would do blue headboards, find a nice painting, paint the walls, and add some fun accessories like throws, pillows, maybe a fun light fixture...

I have a navy bedroom but with your carpet and budget, I would keep the room bright and neutral. Grey headboard. You seem like a diyer so you can do the tufts yourself. Buy foam, wood, buttons and fabric and use a staple gun to put it together. Or simply stain wood as the headboard.

Paint the walls a light grey or beige.
Buy straw baskets.

watch YouTube for inspiration

etc

If you haven't tried professionally cleaning your carpet please do. I finally did after always cleaning myself and alot of stains I thought were permanent came out.

Pretty linen and paint, nice ceiling fixture, painting, lamp
Use a carpet stain remover
Replace the shades with something a little more upscale

Get platform beds instead of headboards. Much more up to date and makes the room look more luxurious and streamlined.

Put your $200 on the walls. Art, nice shades etc. And maybe a couple of throw pillows.

I like my master bedroom to look peaceful, rather than fun. I'd say a light gray or light beige velvet headboard or platform beds.

Long drapes (neutral soft color) from ceiling to floor adds so much. If you have place a small loveseat or 2 chairs.

What is a platform bed? Can you add a link to a picture of any platform bed?

OP, if your walls are yellowish and your carpet is tan, DO NOT get grey headboard. Won't look good. Grey and tan/beige aren't a good mix.

First thing I'd do, is paint the walls white.

I find that when you pick one thing you really love - something with color or texture, whatever will kind of pop as a focal point of the room, maybe a piece of art, a mirror, a chair, the headboard, etc. Spend on that "good" item. Everything else you can fill in on a budget and let the one thing be the "star". But start with that one thing you are willing to splurge a little on and then work around it.

Get rid of all clutter in the room.

Agree about getting new bed frames if you can afford it.
Get 2 cheap side tables to put on the outer 2 ends of the beds and a nice lamp.
Paint the walls white and wallpaper just the wall behind the beds for a bit of wow.
Get cheap wall to carpet drapes that you can install on your own but give a touch of glam.
A nice light fixture for a statement.
A small bench, loveseat or a chair
You can hero the linen- it sounds neutral.

What’s your closet situation like? Can you get rid of all your dressers?

Depends on your taste but I would keep everything the way it is (sounds like a nice neutral base) and just add a few nice decorative pillows and table lamp in an accent color - maybe pale aqua, or blue, or teal?

Paint walls white, check wayfair for headboards. Maybe put a bench by the foot of your beds. I’ll find the king to some cute pillows. Do you have nice linen? Also check homeggods for a lamp for the nightstand
