Generally the higher the gloss, the better the durability - but also the more imperfections you would see. It may also look a lot like an institution if everything painted in high gloss. For wood trim I have always used high gloss.

Semi gloss. I love high gloss and really don't like any other. Although semi gloss is not really in its not out either. My builder didn't even want to consider high gloss because it's so out of style. So I had to settle on something. I did semi because it's in between.

Op which one did you end up choosing? I'm having a hard time deciding now between satin and semi gloss.
I think I want satin but ppl are telling me semi gloss is more practical. Can anyone advise?

Semi. It's a compromise and it won't look too old fashioned but will have more durability than satin.
