Put up a portfolio online so people can get a sense of your style.

Thank you so much for your reply!
Meaning, make a website for myself and post sample works of mine on it?

Yes, either a free website or a paid one.
In the arts, people don't want to hire someone without seeing their work.

You can make an Instagram account which is free and easy to have as a portfolio. Or on Facebook. Or an actual website of course.

What is freehand illustrating?
What is your pricing?

Freehand to the effect of not being digitized or computerized/computer-edited
In particular sketching or cartoon-style
I think at an introductory level I would be open to negotiating a price point

My husband is looking to open a business soon that could use a "mascot" style logo. Would love to see some samples of your work!

My work varies from sketching faces and making wedding monograms, to micrography and papercut art.
Could you possibly advise per particulars he’d be interested in seeing in a logo (eg animal type, the action being portrayed, etc) and I could devise some samples?

Logos are probably the way to go because a lot of elements in graphic design can’t be used in a logo, and people want to be unique. You should be able to learn about logo design online.

I'm not her, but it sounds like she's saying that someone would want a freehand illustrator as opposed to a graphic artist for a logo since they want something unique and specific to whatever the logo is for. For illustrations for a book and advertisements, graphic design would work as well since it doesn't have to be quite as unique.

You can be a seller on fiverr.
Check out their website.
It's a marketplace for freelance artists. Drawing, graphics, video presentations...
My husband hired people through there many times.
