Hi,
When do most people move up to the country? Will there be crazy traffic this Friday already? Trying to see if I can make it upstate, without a ton of traffic by leaving early afternoon Friday.

I would not move up to the country on a Friday afternoon---traffic aside, it seems like a Shabbos prep nightmare cvs. Include traffic risks, oh my, no way.

This Friday traffic will be crazy. If you leave early afternoon you should get there before Shabbos, but if you're moving everything, definitely leave first thing in the morning.

There is always traffic on Friday, and yes it will already have started this Friday - schools are going to be out already, and even though many rental colonies aren't open yet everyone who privately owns is already going up. And the only way a Friday move can ever work is if you already made sure the place is clean and set up before. Any wrench in the works and you won't have it ready for Shabbos even if you arrive in time.
There are camps starting already next Monday so I'm assuming many people will already be trying to be settled in by or over this weekend.

Every Friday afternoon is bound to be a nightmare if there's nice weather over the weekend, even without the full heimishe crowd there.
