I'm moving into a house with one sink. Eventually we will redo kitchen. But for the meantime, does anyone have experience living with one sink? How do you do it?

Married close to 30 years. Have only ever had one sink. Don't put dishes or any food directly in the sink. If I need to use a strainer, wash out sink well with ajax, put in a drainboard and make sure to pour the water slowly so it doesnt get above the drainboard.

Use a rack and a dishpan. Separate ones for milchig, fleishig, and parve. Any hot food that falls into the sink I throw away.

I make stacks on my counter: dirty and washed but not rinsed. So I dont do one dish at a time, I do a bunch and then rinse a bunch. Also never had a dishwasher!

I use a dish tub.
Btw, it may not cost so much to install a second sink depending on the layout of your kitchen and where your water lines run. It can easily be done in many cases without a reno.

We have one sink 17 years. I have a meat dishwasher so that helps a lot and I use little milchig dishes.
I don’t put anything in the sink.
Most things I wash holding in my hand.
If I have a lot of dishes like motzei Shabbos I use a rack in the sink.

Like everyone said, manageable. But if its wide enough you can easily get an inexpensive double sink in its stead for now.

My parents did it for a long time. I did it for the first 5 years I was married. If you are used to 2 sinks, it's hard to have 1.

Thanks everyone. There is no room for a second sink. It's a small kitchen. A double sink will mean cutting out the counter a little. We will probably end up doing a double sink or redoing part of the kitchen to fit a second sink. But for now , probably a few months, I'll be with one sink. I have a dishwasher so that helps.

I would rather have one large sink than a double sink.

You can wash the milchig dishes in the bathroom sink and use mostly disposable cutlery for milchig.
